My truck just takes longer to start. I use to fire up in 2 seconds, hot or cold. I took a 2500 mile trip and it stared the day after I got back. New Batteries, semi. syn.oil and filter, gas filter, air filter, plus new cps, free via dealer recall. All of this right before the trip. Tach. moves oil press. comes up durring starting. Will always start and then run fine. has too spool up to start, not just catch and fire. Early 1999. PSD. ALL STOCK. 200,500 miles. I've done a search. No answers.
Thanks, Patrick
How long does it take to start now? Probably seems like forever, but in reality is only 4 - 5 seconds? My truck did this for a couple of days last summer only when the engine was hot. The issue returned last week, so I've got a new IPR I'm going to try to see if that helps.
Is your issue slower starts all the time, or just when hot? If the cold start is slow, is the hot start even longer? Injector o-rings or a sticking IPR come to mind as possible causes.
It isn't as quick as it use to be when cold but it takes noticeably longer to start when hot. Long enough that you wonder if it will.
I read a lot of talk about oil. 2500 miles is a long trip. I also had a large cab-over camper on board and it was hot. The semi synthetic Motorcraft oil wouldn't be "worn out" and cause the problem would it?
I know it's a dumb question to others and I know I've read it before but I can't remember what, UVCH, ICP, and IPR stand for. I looked at the "Acronyms and Definitions" page and these are not on the list.
