what does it mean?

was asked on the oreilly's site (was looking to up my coil to a MSD blaster 45000W) if i had the Y code engine.... and i do.... so what does that mean?

Y just means the standard 300 six, same code for quite a few years. I think it started in 83 or 84 and went up through till the end of the big six. There was another one for a while but it was LP and I have only seen one that was owned by a concrete company.
