Tire low warning

So this morning my dash shows a low tire warning, first I had no idea this was even a system on the truck. I get home and have look around and they look fine by eye, so I get out the tire gauge. Holy crap batman the front tires are at 90 psi, no wonder the thing rode like a lumber wagon. The back curbside was 85 psi and the back roadside was at 50. I aired the frons down to 65 and set the back at 70. I do not tow much or haul much so I thought 80 was high for my needs. I ran to town and with in a 1/2 mile the warning light went out.

I have only had this truck for little over a month and thought the dealer I bought from had maybe checked the front air pressure.

The truck has goodyear Wanglers now I will need tires by spring, it seems these are worn in the center, no surprise if they have them at 90 psi. What are you guys with 20's putting on for replacements, needs to be load range E

I replaced my Goodyears with Nitto Terra Grapplers.(275-65-20) These Nitto's have excelllent traction in all situations. However I would not recommend them to someone who constantly carries weight in the truck, they seem squishy for lack of a better word. For your needs I think they would be an excellent choice. The mechanic who mounted and balanced them was very impressed with how well they balanced and the fact that he used very little weight.

My BFG ATs are wearing poorly and are hard to keep balanced. Bridgestone just came out with a Dueler AT Revo in the 275/65/20 size. I may have to give those a serious look in about 10k miles.

I always run more air in the front tires than the rears unloaded so the rears wear somewhat even across the tread. When your unloaded the front axle wil have more weight on it than the rear. The speced tire pressures from Ford are basiacally the tire pressures with the truck loaded up good.
