ive replaced the diff cover twice inthe past 2 years because it was leaking from the sides. is there any way to use a gasket for this cover or can you make your own. its just wet all around the cover! how do i stop it from leaking?
Gasket are available. Clean well. Make sure the cover is flat. Use Gascasinch gasket stuff. As stated above make sure your vent and hose aren't clogged. If you haven't yet, replace the hose. I use a small fuel filter instead of the provided auto-clog vent.

Good Idea, I'll try that.
And as far as the diff goes, when I did mine a little while back, I just used red RTV, and no gasket. No leaks or weeps, yet.
Vent comes out of the top of the pumpkin, and clips to the bed, or somewhere up out of the way. My clip is broken so it is just zip tied up out of the way. I found out the hard way the clip was broken when I parked the right side up on a curb and gear oil leaked out the vent tube. Just take the vent tube off and blow it out to see if there are any clogs.
DITTO-All of the above. Also be sure the cover straight, is there evidence of prying on it? Also, change over a friends house, mess up his driveway not yours lol.
Very true! If you don't do it often (train) it is hard to predict the trajectory and harder to track with windage. An old blanket helps, Ryder U-Haul. The additive really smells bad and it is a pain to fill up w/o proper equipment.
I used a gasket on mine with a small bead of silicone on each side. No leaks at all. If you use silicone let it set up and dry for a while before you fill the diff back up.
You might also have a warped or bent diff cover. If that's the case new ones can be found pretty cheap. You can even grab one from a '08 truck if you want! (In the rear anyways)
i located the hose coming off the axle, is this the hose?
if so it wasnt clogged but the end of the hose that goes on the axle had a chack in it and really wasnt really on. could the solid piece on the axle be clogged? if so what next?
The rubber hose is attached to the brake line tee. Is that the one you are asking about? Use a piece of wire to poke through the connector into the axle tube. If it goes in a couple inches the vent is clear. BTW: you can fill the diff through the RABS sensor hole on the top of the housing. Much less messy.
OOPS! I got the front and rear vent locations mixed up. The front D60 is on the top of the pumpkin, or at about 11 o'clock, and the rear Sterling is on the axle tube. Right where Jim said it is. Sorry for any confusion. RBAS, is that also the VSS sensor? That looks like it would be an easy way to fill. Just pop the sensor out and fill till you get a little seepage out of the fill hole.
