I need some valuable info on how to check the glow plug relay and also how to know if the control mudule is bad.
Thanks,
jiggersup - 1999 f250 - 7.3 powerstroke
Unplug the connector on the outside of the valve cover. You'll see 9 flat pins inside there. They're laid out as follows G G I I C I I G G
where
G=Glow Plug
I = Injector
C= Injector Common
Test between "I" and "C" to test the injectors, should be less than 5.0 Ohms.
To check glow plugs Test between "G" and battery ground. Should be between 0.1 and 2.0 Ohms
If you find readings that are out of spec, then yes it's time to pull the valve cover and check the connector.
(I just cut and pasted this info from Chris (F350-6)So give him some reps)
Hey jig I don't know what year truck you have but all you have to do is turn the key on and test light both sides of your relay of the large wires. The relay is basicaly a large solonoid like on any other ford firewall! if this did'nt help than follw the links dnd58 sent
