i seek answers from the powerstroke gods! ha... something like that, i found a truck im looking at as a potential buy. im still on the quest to own a powerstroke... i have PMS and i dont have a truck yet... when i do get one it will be sickening... lol... anyways i found one on autotrader. its seems a little scarey as it has rust under the diesel fill caps... and it has 328,000 miles... and i know diesels will run forever, but to me that many miles seems a little scarey... so i was just wondering others opinions... id rather drive a 800,000 mile truck, than let it go to cars for clunkers anyway!!!... thanks for the help
Your in Louisiana and looking at a truck in Minnesota. In minnesota they used to use A LOT of salt in the snow so rusting is gonna be a gieven unless someone went to extrem measures to clean it off all the time. The price isnt to bad the mileage is beginng to get up there. For what its worth The truck should at least be broken in by now, and mileage usually means it works. But if the rust bothers you you can get similar trucks from other areas within similar distance or less for about the same price with less miles and less rust if any. I know of lots of them here in CO. Its a personal decision more than anything what are you willing to put into it minor mech, major mech, or total teardown and rebuild whats your skill level and how much $ are you willing to put into it, If you cant answer these easily and be sure you really want that truck, then keep looking till you find something better. Its up to you really but dont trick yourself into buying something you dont want, cant fix, cant afford, or dont like.
thanks for the notice on the distance.. lol.. ive been looking at a few trucks and they were all in texas, so i guess i had a lapse and i thought that truck was in texas as well... its not the work that would scare me, it just would be over paying for the truck.
I have to agree with Oversize. I think that you can do better closer to home and with out the body cancer. The truck, according to the sales pitch seems to have been maintained, that is if he has the receipts.
It's really your call but continue to look won't hurt either.
