I have been banging my head trying to figure out what I should ask for my 1992 F150 with the following specs. If anybody can give me an idea it would be great. I don't know if I should part it out or sell it as a whole. I will be posting an ad and pictures in the classifieds as soon as I get an idea. Thanks!
351c.i. (in need of rebuild, white smoke an blows oil, 218,000 miles)
Ex. cab short box
dual tanks
4X4 (trac loc rear) Auto Trans.
4" suspension 2" body (25x12.50x15 Dunlops)
clean inside, leather, power everything
purchased as a conversion package so it has many inside and out options.
It depends on where you live, who the buyer is, and if said buyer likes the mods done to the truck at present. With its present condition, anything exceedingly more than scrap price will turn away even the most die hard of ford truck fanatic. To me 1200 dollars would be excessive for a bad motor. Put in a 500 dollar motor from the salvage yard and you could ask for 2500 or more for it easily.

Ebay and Craigslist can give you some idea as to what to ask. The bad engine is a downer-but if the rest of the truck is nice and it is equipped very well-it is possible that you can get a good price. Ask for a best offer-you may be surprised -or you can always decline the offer.
