it rained most of the morning and i had the day off work so i went wheeling . all and all it was fun , i took the truck to the car wash and cleaned it and went to start it an all it doed is click really fast ( checked all cables and even did my lil trick to try and get it to fire ) and nothing all it does is click , acts like the batterys dead ( new optima yellow ) windsheild wipers go on by them selfs super slow and my guages go stupid , ive tried everytrhing and checked all my conections 100 times and nothing , any help is a step in the right direction
is there a way i can speed up the dry time ? like maybe with a hair drier ( wares the GEM at ? ) , i realy dont think its that thow , very similar issue happedned wen my positive cable on the starter coroded , ( clicking , wipers and all the signs of a dead battery ) wen i get home im going to pull the starter and have it tested ( maybe i got the silenoid on the starter wet and it failed ) , anythings posible thow
ok so i start messin with it today and i had a loose nut on the main power of the starter , so i go to tighten it and my conector for the starter is ate away ( again and its only like 2 months old ) so i put a new conector on it and go to tighten the lil copper nut on the starter and snap ( twisted the bolt right off the silenoid ) so now i need a new starter and dont even know if thats the issue
how hard is it to just replace the silenoid ? , the starter is older than 2 months old , i bought a starter 2months ago and then took it back because i found out that the starter wasnt the issue , it was the wire conector for the main power on the starter ( it was all coroded ) and the same issue now
how hard is it to just replace the solenoid? , the starter is older than 2 months old
Oh I see now that you meant the cable was replaced 2 months ago, not the starter. Although it's fairly easy to change the solenoid, I don't recommend it with an older starter. You're much better off replacing the solenoid and starter as an assembly.
i see , i noticed wen i was under the truck yesterday that the 2 rubber plugs that use to be in the bottom of the starter ( around 2 months ago ) are now out ( any reason they would push them selfs out ? ) ... im picking up a junk yard starter for 45bucks wen i get home ( only reason im doing junk yard starter is because im not even sure if thats the original problem or not )

Reason: typos

I don't get it? Even if the starter is not the problem, installing a new one would give you a better guarantee of it lasting a long time. A junkyard one could go out on you in a month and leave you stranded somewhere.
true i do see what your saying , i just want to make sure this is the problem and not something else , my luck ill buy a new starter for 150ish and figure out it still needs more work , i just dont want to throw a bunch of money into it and still be in the same boat with a dead truck , plus i can always sell the junk yard starter on craigslist or something , its not realy a hard job to pull the starter either
By the time you get the starter squared away the GEM should be dried out and you'll be good until the next time it gets a car wash, then you can start all over.
