Tuner question.

I am looking at all the tuner options out there and considering something for my 99 SD and I have a couple questions. From what I have read most tuners offer like a 25 hp tow and a 60 or 80 hp economy. Why the tow less hp than economy? Seems backwards to me. Also is there a tune available anywhere that provides good torque at low rpm's, say 12 to 1500? I like to plug around on backroads and I either have to keep it in second gear and the rpm's above 2k or constantly shift it. Very annoying. I think I'm gonna go with a DPtuner, just gotta decide which tunes I want in it. Thanks for any input.

check out dp's website and read up on the tunes. the 25 hp tow tune is for towing extremely heavy loads. they dont give you much hp so you dont jack up your trans. they also have 40-60-80 hp programs for lighter loads. when i tow my quads around i use the 80 hp setting. when i tow the concession trailer i use the 40 hp setting. its nice to have a good variety of tunes to pick from......

Ah, I see now. I was just trying to get my head around the idea of lower hp for towing and higher hp for economy. It's to protect the drivetrain. That makes sense. Thanks indyF-350psd.
