um yeah so i have this f250 91 and the starter contuines to run or crank the eng over even with the key off. any ideas? i think it might be the starter relay.
thanks
Solenoid for sure my 89 bronco did the same thing, made the most god awful noise when the engine started. Jumped out and jerked the battery cable because she showed no signs of stopping and stuff was starting to fry.

I don't know for sure with the 250 [as compared to a 150] but it should be mounted on the passenger side fender close to the battery. It's not hard to see if you just pop the hood.
Another easy way to find it it to look for one of the larger cables from the battery and trace it over there. Usually one goes to the distribution box and the other goes to the solenoid/relay then the starter because it pulls a lot of amps.
solenoid on the 250 is located on the passenger side wall of the engine compartment above the battery. its a little round thing, usually brown or black, with 4 connectors on it.
The starter RELAY connects voltage to the starter solenoid which is part of the starter. The positive cable from the battery connects to the starter relay.
Very true & if it stops cranking when the wire with the rubber boot is removed from the starter RELAY then the ignition switch is probably shorted out.
