New distributor fit.

Getting my engine together and when I set the new distribitor on (MSD Pro Billit Ready to Run) the little tab that is used to hold down the old ones don't work with this one. Either that or its not sitting down all the way. Anyone know what to do here?

I would hazard a guess that it is not down on the oil pump drive shaft and/or properly seated into the cam gear. Oil or grease the "O" ring, rotate the motor and push down on the distributor and keep doing it until the dist. drops into place. Then the original hold down will work just fine.

Exactly. It's not engaged to the oil pump drive.

As others have said...not engaged in oil pump..I'm actually running that exact dizzy and it does fit and you can use the old hold down.
