SInce my '06 Exped with its 300 hp engine and 18MPG milage is now hoplessley under water; loan amount way more than market value. It looks like I will be driving it for some time.

Now, there are all kinds of computer engine control chip makers that take a mild diesel light truck engine and turn it into some kind of 14 second quarter mile rocket. I wonder if anyone makes a chip or engine management system that can take my 300 hp 5.4 Liter V-8 and through various technical mumbo jumbo turn it in to something that gets a lot better milage and naturally results in a slower Exped.

OK, Wiseguys, I know such a thing exists. It is called my right foot programed with self restraint. That is all true by let's admit it- 300 HP is not to be spared, not on long up grades, not in passing GMC products, not in trying to get to the big sale at "Bubba Bookah's House of Discount Sporting Ammunition and Barbeque." Let's admit it also that deep inside all red blooded American males is a hidden NASCAR driver.

So, how about some black box magic that turns an Exped into VW bus? Any thoughts?

Didn't Chevy have some kind of "8,6,4" system for their so-called V-8s years ago?
