Has anyone got a sct tune with pilot injection? I was wondering if the pilot injection has been fixed through a sct custom program? I know when the 6.0l came out they had this option and alot of people have had problems starting their trucks. I was looking a innovative diesels programing options and I seen that the pilot injection option was on there. It would be nice to not have to shut off the truck at drive throughs.
That's a good question. I've been wondering the same thing for the last few months as I consider getting an SCT From Innovative here in the next few weeks. I'll call them about that tomorrow since I just sent my FICM to be tuned by them and if that's something that needs to be addressed through the FICM, I'd like for them to do that too. Hopefully someone will chime in with some insight.
You can get it and I've run it but pilot injection on these injectors will seriously shorten the injector life. It's nice, but expensive in the long run.

But what if the PI was programmed to only happen after every thing is fully warmed up. I wonder if this would be less destructive.
Even better if it only operated at idle. As soon as the peddle is depressed at all, turn if off. This would address longevity for those that don't idle their trucks excessively, and still allow drive through happiness
I believe pilot injection for our 6.0L only worked at idle (or just off idle)/
The DMax and 6.4 work at slightly RPMs around ~1,200 I believe, but don't quote me.
I personally would love to have pilot injection back and would consider buying a programmer to get it but am a bit uncomfortable until others gunie pig it.
I'm going to talk to Eric @ Innovative and Tadd @ Elite to get their takes on pilot injection since I will probably be ordering their tunes soon. I'll let you know what they say.

You are correct. When the engine reaches a certain RPM then pilot injection is inactivated. It's a very nice feature to have for sure, but my experiences with the early 03's and all the injector problems I had make me very leary of it. I'll just shut off and restart. It's easier and cheaper than changing injectors.
I talked to eric and he told me that the pilot injection gives the truck a dead pedal feeling and told me with my strategy I cant get it on my truck.

What strategy do you have? I just thought I'd ask.
I've been driving my truck a lot more lately which means more trips through the drive-thru and I haven't had one person ask me to shut my truck off yet lately. Of course, then I look at my receipt and the order is all jacked up and I've bought 3 more burritos than I wanted! But hey, at least they didn't ask me to turn it off like they used to. Of course, now I'm back in my hometown where everybody has a diesel truck so I think the teenagers taking the orders are used to it.
As a side note, in the alley behind my dad's business is kind of the local hangout for all the kids who smoke and carry on being teenagers, so I like having the louder diesel, because I just leave it running when I go and talk to my dad and when I return, all the kids are gone. It's working so well and the kids are such a nuisance to my dad that he wants a 6L now since his Duramax is too quiet to scare off a mouse!
I would only be interested in pilot injection if it were only activated during idle and that's it....if it were possible. I only say that because I do like the way they sound at idle with pilot injection and maybe that way it wouldn't damage the injectors.
