I know there have been gobs of cam threads but most seem to be for 4WD trucks. I have a 75 F250, 2WD, 390 w/C6. Stock manifolds, holley 670, procomp msd knockoff iginition with mechanical advance distributor. Call me vain, but i love the sound of a little lope in the idle and wouldnt mind a little more bottom end and midrange power. Is there a cam that will give me audible enjoyment and a little power without having to change too many things? I know i'll need new springs and lifters, but things like heads and headers are out of the question. thanks for any tips <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->
a cam wont do anything if you dont have headers. If it doesnt have the capacity to breathe then oppening the valves more doesnt do much. Headers first then cam. Otherwise you're just spinning your wheels.
well then, how about some header reccomendations. i've heard all sorts of bad things about all sorts of headers. anyone have good fitting headers for the 2wd trucks?
As for headers, Hedman or Hooker. You shouldn't have any problems getting them to aviod obsitcals like the shock tower and the frame. They get a little close to the starter however. The passenger side header is a bear to put and usually requires to unbolt the engine and lift it out a little to get it in. I would highly recommend a mini-starter. As for a cam, go with a Comp XE262H, but definatly do the headers first.
