Stosh Question

Stosh,

I'm wanting to put a non-step bumper on the back of my 80 f-100 similar to the ones put on the bronco. I've found the bumpers new, but haven't found the brackets. Any ideas? Thanks!

Yep, you have to find an 80-82 F100. They also came with the contour bumper that the Bronco's had. 73-79 brackets look like they may work as well.

The Bronco brackets will not work. Been there, done that. They don't push the bumper out enough from the tailgate or the rear of the bed. They are too short.

I know of one set in the yard, but Brad has first dibs on them. If I come across any more I'll post them in the swap meet thread.

I have the bumper you are talking about on the back of my F250. Pics in my gallery.

Thanks Stosh....Yep, that's it, the chrome one. Is youre bumper a repro or oem? That's disappointing that the Bronco brackets won't work. I felt like I had a better chance of locating a Bronco with this bumper, than a truck. I'm getting ready to buy a bunch of cosmetic pieces for my project. Do you have a preference of one supplier over another. I'm talking about bumpers, grill, headlight doors, windshield trim, mirrors, pretty much everything outside...

I don't buy anything that is not OEM so I can't help with any suppliers. I get all of my stuff from about a dozen different salvage yards that I frequent.

My bumper is an OEM unit from a Bronco. The bumpers are the same, it's just the brackets that are different.

I hear you....I prefer OEM, but when the trucks make it to the slavage yards down here, there's not much good left. I've only seen one of those bumpers over the last 2 years and it was painted and in bad shape. It surprises me with all the stuff you find and the shape its in up north. These Southerners (and I'm one) seem to wear them out before they consider them salvage.

It's not as easy as everyone thinks.

Most of the stuff up here is rotted to hell and beat as well.

I have to look through a LOT of trucks before I find a good piece. It's all about the numbers. The more you choices you have to look through, the better the odds of finding something.

I know....my problem is only have about 15 to pick from and its slim pickings.

If you happen to find another set of brackets, I'll take them.

Thnaks for your help.

FWIW, the headlight surrounds I have ordered from LMC all seemed to have a good fit and finish.

Thanks for your input Syco.

I just put added an album in the photo album section that I'm trying to add to my gallery. How is this done? Why I click on your name, it allows me to view your gallery. Why does mine not do this?
