What year is your truck? if its a '99-'01 it MAY have a drain on the converter-if it does you should drain that too,(no flushing recomended here) and get synthetic fluid Mercon V and use a known name brand-a bit more expensive but well worth it IMO. Your filter situation is kind of normal-some 2wds have been found with the 4wd filter and vise-versa-you should retain the ORIGINAL pan gasket (Ford one) and NOT use the cheapo cork one in with the gasket. Good Luck & go easy on that beer until the job is done-there have been some guys recently that have one too many BEFORE the job is done and have problems they wouldn't have without it.
Not sure where that came from. No, for the fuel filter you can leave the tranny alone. Unless you can find the factory lid, or buy a replacement lid, you'll need to keep buying the filter that comes with the lid attached. Don't try to make a lid from an attached filter re-useable.
Interesting thing. new filter has separate filter from lid. So looks like next time all I need is the filter and O-ring. So that makes 3 different configurations.
Some aftermarket filters came with the cap attached.
Keep your factory filter lid if you ever get one of those filters, do not throw the detachable lid away!
