An Introduction

Just wanted to thank the board and its members. I have never posted but just using the search function, I have found a lot. And just aimlessly reading the threads that don't even pertain to me have kept me entertained and off the brink of insanity for this last year especially, lol. I am a mechanic for the Army stationed out of Ft. Carson. We are currently deployed to Iraq. I am approx 2 weeks out from being stateside again. I just got to thinking and realized how unknowingly a bunch of strangers really did a lot, so I wanted to thank you all. The hours I have spent on this board have passed a lot of time for me.
Now about trucks. I had a 97 ram with 13 inches of lift and 37's. Decided I wanted a diesel and something different. But I didn't want to be like everyone else on deployments and buy a 30,000 dollar truck I really can't afford and I like older trucks. So I ended up with a 94 F350 4x4 with the 7.3 idi mated a 5spd. The truck has the banks turbo kit and a 3 inch straight pipe exhaust. Currently it isn't much to look at. It is just a single cab, long bed, flat black, stock beast. In the last month or so, I have started ordering parts for it. To date. I have 34x14.50 m/t tires(got a killer deal on them with 75 percent tread). I also have 16x10 wheels. Leveling kit. 5 inch twin stacks kit. Ordered a new chrome grill and headlight bezels. I have a grill guard on the way. Roof mounted light bar. And 6 6inch 150w lights. I also ordered bully steps from summit, and a set of train horns. Once I get home. I will be sure to post pics after the installs are complete. For now, just wanted to say hi, and introduce the truck.
Thanks everyone.

Okay, sorry to throw you- I'm not in the Army. But I have a friend who was and he said it was okay for me to post that.
Seriously tho, I want to thank you and everybody in your unit from the bottom of my heart for what you guys are doing over there, regardless of your chosen MOS. Most people don't truly understand, but as a former Marine I have an appreciation deeper than most for those who put themselves at risk so that I can sit here and ***** around on a computer for half a day. Good luck getting back home, I hope your journey is a safe one and you get to see your family soon. And like these guys said, get us some pics!
Oh, and by the way, welcome to FTE! Good to know you find this forum as interesting as we do.
DBGrif91, thank you. And I suppose it is okay for you to post that, lol. Although, we don't even like that word. The army got the short end of the stick when it came time to pick a slogan, lol. I have a buddy here that has a pretty good theory of where it came from. I'm sure most have heard the whole hurry up and wait mentality of the military. Well, one day, back in the beginning. There was a formation. They all had to hurry up and get outside. Then they waited. Finally after about 2 hours. One of the soldiers looked around and said, "So.. hoo...ah....knows whats going on". So from then on, hooah is the army saying for anything but no. Sorry, I know, it is a corny joke and I suppose you have to be military to find it funny. Have a good night everyone.
