i have a 92 ranger with the 5 speed mazda tranny and i was thinking of draining my regular fluid out and replacing synthetic... would synthetic benefit the life of my tansmision or just stick with what i have now... thanks
Well you didn't say how many miles you got on it...
Why would you want to? I'm curious as to your reasoning behind it. I am a big fan of snythetics. SO I always recommend it but there are some circumstances where it soesn't warrant it. (i.e. like your trying to fix a problem by using it...)
Some transmission synchronizers require a certain amount of friction to allow smooth shifts & a synthetic trans fluid can take away that friction . If its the M5OD you should be OK switching to a synthetic , Ive used it in mine since new with no problems . However , If you have any signs of leaks now they will only get worse switching to a synthetic .
i just thought on changing to synthetic to improve the life on the tranny to run cooler etc. there is how ever no problem with my transmission its just i want to keep from having a break down and my truck has about 120 miles on the clock.....thanks MONSTA
