Leaking fill hose
The fill tube leaks like a sieve when you try to fill it. I had a look and where to turns to go horizontal and back over the exhaust manifold I can feel a rough spot underneath. No idea how this happened, I'm in Texas and we don't salt roads here. It's just leaking, anyhow. I fear moisture getting into the tranny fluid here too.
How is that tube attached? It seems to go straight into the tranny, and it's smooth and featureless where it goes in. Is there a nut inside the tranny holding it in place? Will I need to pull the cover and drain the tranny to remove it? I'll hit up a junkyard or eBay for this, or maybe devise a plan to solder or braze a fix onto the tube. Although if I have to open the tranny, I'm gonna wanna make this quick so I'll probably get a replacement rather than figure-out-how-to-fix-it-once-it's-out-and-this-may-take-a-few-days.
Number Dummy is the guy to get you the part number.
Fits: A gazillion different trans dipstick tubes (C3, C4, C5, C6, AOD, FMX and etc) from the 1960's thru today.
MSRP: $1.20 // FTE sponsor Y2KFORDPARTS.COM price: $0.72.
I'd be amazed if your local Ford or L/M dealer does not stock it.
Don't bother getting a used O-Ring. This puppy tends to shrivel up with age, why it leaks.
A used O-Ring will be no better than the one you have now.
I don't see anything holding the tube in the tranny here. I didn't see a restraining bolt.

There's usually a bolt attached either to the back of the head or transmission case.
Before you remove the tube make sure you clear away any debris that is around the tube in order to prevent junk falling into the transmission.

NumberDummy , where did you find this part # for the filler tube? I couldn't find it at RockAuto.
I badly need to find the gasket which goes on the blower cover, my A/C evaporator has been leaking water like a sieve. The condensate drain's not clogged, maybe highway speeds are causing an updraft that blows it back? I don't know but it drips inside on the passenger's feet despite by best efforts. That gasket is a discontinued part # though, I know that much. Tried to get it years ago and failed.

I'll take a look-see, maybe someone still has one. EDIT: There's more than one gasket, is it horseshoe shaped or rectangular?
(This is factory installed integral A/C, correct?)
Where did I find the Ford part number?
Uh...where did I find any of the 10's of 1000's of Ford part numbers I've typed here on FTE?
See my signature, kiddo. Since I have over 500 Ford & L/M parts catalogs, spent 35 years as a Ford partsman, lookin' up part numbers for anything is a piece of cake.
I also have access to two online parts locator sites, so I can tell you if the parts are obsolete, still available from Ford, and/or...who has them.
Y'all know of course...that this is a free service, courtesy of The Big Dummy.

I was specifically looking for the reference source to see if that part number cross-refs for any other models. 'Cause I expect a new one to be a bit pricey for such an uncommon-and-discontinued item to replace. If the F150/250/350 ones are the same, I have a better chance of finding one of those on eBay.
The evap core gasket is the one that fits underneath the cover on the inside, the cover right underneath the computer. When you take that cover off, the squirrel cage blower is exposed.

I listed several sources that have this tube NOS (New Old Stock).
The following is the only related 'gasket' I see in the parts catalog illustration:
D5UZ19C978A .. A/C Blower Outlet Seal / Obsolete
Fits: 1975/90 Econoline with factory installed integral A/C.
SHELL ROCK FORD in Shell Rock IA has ONE. No one else has any.
Are you sure you have factory A/C? Are the A/C controls in the same panel as the heater controls or separate?
You might visit a local dealers parts counter to see this pic of the setup: 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 195 / Page 10.
btw: You've been a FTE member 5 months longer than I have. You have 614 posts, I have 24,594.
I'm the only FTE member that has the experience and resources to look up all this crap. Sometimes I wonder why I bother.
