I have a 1995 F250 PSD, 251K miles. When I start the truck, it runs rough for a couple seconds, no smoke, but then the engine runs smooth. Then, when I get it up to operating temperature, and come to a stop, you can feel the engine running rough again. It's random, it doesn't happen every stop. I did a test to see if I could recreate the problem: I brake-torqued the motor. The first time, it began running rough. The second time, it got worse, and then the engine stabilized by itself. However, the truck runs fine when driving. No power loss. I had an injector contribution test done- all injectors are in good shape. The fuel system is good as well, running at 85 psi. CPS is brand new. Do you have any ideas what might be causing this problem? It has become an annoyance.
I think its the year of the truck. In the first Powerstrokes (ie 94.5-95) they had slightly different parts used for oil delivery for the fuel. the newer OBS trucks (ie 96-97) ran smoother. i have a 95 and it acts the exact same way. its the nature of the truck. you will get used to it. just think of it as a minor lope and that it sounds cool. lol no need to worry about it at all. but if you did want to smooth it out you could do the HPX line ( High Pressure Cross Over) form dieselsit.com. it is cheap and smooths your idle out better. just a thought if you were hell bent on getting rid of the rough idle. hope this helps.

Alright cool thanks for your help JethroF250. I have driven a 96 Psd I thought they were supposed to have the same feelings with the engine. Well I learn some thing new every day.
nope. heres an example, Joe (c00nhunterjoe) gave me his ipr for when my o rings on mine went out. this is what regulates the oil pressure to the injectors in order to deliver your fuel. he has a 97 PS. the end on his was flared out where the oild flows where as mine in straight with holes in it. put his in and still no start. put the o rings on mine and fired right up. glad i could help.
