trans temp gauge question?
does the ford pcm read trans temp? i do have a trans temp gauge on my pilar. i noticed when i had my edge that it would read trans temp, now i just got the scan gauge and it also read trans temp. which is a better reading, or are they the same. i have the trans temp probe in the side of the trans where i was told to put it by DI. the reason for this question is that i either need to get a 4 pillar pod are remove a gauge from my 3 pod in place of the scan gauge( that i cant figure out how to work yet

The PCM gets a reading from the TFT sensor (thermistor) in the solenoid pack. My AE reads this in voltage return, but does not convert it into degrees. I would need to use a chart for this. Your scan gauge makes this conversion and displays it. I would say it would be just as accurate as any other electric sender and the trans temp gauge could be opted out.

That's good to know. I may have to make the "conversions" and see how close my gauge matches the AE's voltage reading.
