new to this forums just saying hi. I'm from NS Canada and just bought a 2001 f150xlt 4x4. I also have two jeeps one grand cherroke has 4.25inch lift and 32inch pro comp muds, the other is a work in progress jeep cj7,getting a 2.5inch lift. When I sell the zj I'm looking to put a tonnu cover and new shocks on the ford.
What shocks do you guys recomend for someone who isn't going to offroad and will use the truck for light hauling and camping? thx.
Welcome to FTE Canadianf150! My truck is not a 4x4 but I put some Bilsteins on from a Sponsor on FTE that was running a special on them at the time. There are specialized forums for that kind of thing. Take a good look around, FTE is really a gold mine of information for our kind of enthusiasts. Good luck!
I have had good luck with the Factory Ford shocks for general usage. Saying that I get a bit of a discount at my local dealer which makes them comparible to aftermarket prices. I do think that for general usage that as long as you don't but the bottom of any line you should be ok.
I was thinking about trying Trail Master ssv with 10 stage valveing. I'm building a 80 jeep cj7 and put those shocks on.Haven;t tryed them out just yet though.
I put Rough Country on mine and bought them from JC Whitney two years ago. They have worked great so far and were comparibly priced to the Rancho. Although I heve never broke them a few buddies of mine have broke Ranchos in some terrain they should have broke, ie. they were not rock crawling or anything like it. So I won't buy them. These have held up so far and I only do moderately rough terrain anyway.
