hi..i found a f-250 reg cab,i realy like the truck but there is one thing that i am not realy sure with it...who ever owned that truck before,he put a small chrome handle on the truck...right by the door like big rigs,so he driled 4 holes on each side...so there is a handle on each side,if i take it out i dont know what to do with the holes or if i dont would it get rust???
if you really want them gone it will include removal and filling in the holes. since you didnt install you dont know if they used some sort of seal/silicone on installation. you could remove one side I'd say driverside, and see whats there. if nothing use silcone and put it back on.
you have a few options just a matter of your preference.
I'm not a body man but some type of filler would be used. and you would have to sand it down for smoothness prime and paint. thats the problem your going to run into matching paint and then 2 yrs later you will find out how good a repair you or a shop did. if it was me and you could learn to live with them i would leave it but i'm saying that living in a part of the country that gets alot of snow an salt is used.
They don't look bad... you could have them powder coated black and you wouldn't even notice them. To be honest, if you decide the lift the truck in the future, they will be really beneficial.
If you have to ask, and the truck is that new, take it to a body shop for an estimate. It takes some skill to fill, sand and paint to make it even remotely not noticeable.
If it were my truck and I couldn't live with those handles, I'd be taking it to a body shop for a quote. I know the process, but would not be happy with the DIY results.
Let us know how much they quote you for the fix and if you decide to just live with the handles.
I don't like them either. However I would look for a third option. Remove the handles, clean the holes, prime them and fill them with silicone. then I would look for something to cover the area with. Graphics, plastic push pins, mounts for something else like co-phased antennas, LEDs for an alarm, anything somewhat smooth.
