Well for a long time my fuel guage hasn't really worked correctly in my 2000 F-250 cc Lariat 5.4, I have always run useing the odometer and figureing out my distances that way. Well I had had enough of doing this so I finally spent the $250 for a new sending unit and pump combo and went to replace it yesterday (sat). Got all the tools out and the jack to lower the tank down, after getting the tank lowered to the ground and went to unplug the wire connector, low and behold after looking above the connector I found that when it was built they lowered the box onto the frame and pinched the harness between the box and frame. After a few years it finally rubbed thru and shorted the thing out! I cut the plug apart and rewired it and now the guage is working perfectly. Well off to the partst store to get my $250 back and put it elsewhere into the truck. Sure wish I would of done this 3 years ago! Well live and learn, just thought I would throw this out there for another thing to look for when haveing fuel guage issues, sometimes it's simple!
Hope this helps someone else because all the info on this forum sure has helped me.
