2002 rear drum spring

does anybody have a way to put the upper spring on that is behind the e-brake shoes ? There is not enough clearance for needlenose pliers and they really do not seem to hold anyway.I was thinking maybe a small type super strong hook similar to a snowmobile exhaust spring tool if someone knows what I am talking about.

Not sure I follow but I will give it a shot. Are you refering to the spring at the top of the e-brakse that hold them together? If so put it on while the shoe linings are tilted outwards towards you and then pushe them back to the backing plate and install your anchors. Then you can install the adjuster and spring on the bottom.

Right now I do not have the e-brakes on the truck.I would have to look at it,but I think I have tried everything to get that spring on.On older trucks you could just put the spring on and forced them over the bracket but not with this one.I picked up a pair of long needle nose pliers with a loop at the end to see if that will help.have never had this much problem with rear brake shoes.
