Since all the pics were inside........ How does it mount on the outside?? What does it look like?? Can we see pics of that??
I meant to take a better picture in the daylight, that's why I didn't post this dark picture.
I drilled a hole in my license place and put a grommet in the hole to protect the camera wire running through it.
I turned the camera upside down. This put the opening in the housing where the wire comes out on the bottom, and will hopefully afford it a little more protection from water. I also unscrewed the housing and placed silicone sealant along the edge where the upper and lower housing come together, in order to give it a little more protection from water. It probably wasn't necessary, because only one person reported they had water intrusion in the camera, but I didn't want to be the second person, so I took a little precaution for my peace of mind.
This also hides the wire and makes it look a little cleaner, which I like.

Elmo, sorry, I missed your post.
I tried to use the screws that came with the unit like Scott did, but for some reason they weren't long enough, so I went to OSH and grabbed some screws that were longer, as well as one size larger.
I have spray can primer for sheet metal stuff, and a black paint pen, and I wanted the screw heads to match the base, so I decided to paint the screw heads.
I just dabbed a bit of primer on the screw head, then painted them gloss black with a dab of the paint pen.
Actually mine did not come with any self tapping screws which is why I am asking. Do you recall the size of the screws? Thanks for your help ... I am hoping to make mine look as good as yours!

I'll see if I can get you the size later tonight, after I get home.
actually mine stopped working sometime last month. Then last week I took it apart and saw there was some water in it - took it completely apart and left it out in the sun for about 30 minutes - put it back together and worked fine. I also sealed up the entire unit with silicone now. Seems like there is nothing more than a microscopic seal around the shell and if you really hose it or get the right(wrong) angle then it'll take in water. I'd suggest anyone using it take 10 minutes and seal it up a little better...

Sorry Elmo, I have CRS really bad.
I ran to the hardware store the other day to check the size because I couldn't find the bag my screws came it. They are self tapping pan head screws, 8 x 1"
EDIT, well that was last night after a few keystones,i checked it out this morning and the camera on the plate is off center so i took it apart thinking that ok maybe a can adjust it so something ya NO u can't. so now mine shows up on the screen off center in the 1/3 of the screen still for 78 bucks compared to 250-350 dollars i'll just have to make it work or maybe i can find a new camera at a good price
still its a good find i'm happy
thanks stewart and i will be changing from the reverse lights to a toggle on the dash also

Sounds like something is wrong with your system. I would take it back and exchange it. I have had mine since Christmas and love it. Just mounted mine on a piece of finished wood and sit it on the tranny tunnel. Think I will permanently install like Stewart did. Nice job Stewart.

no the camera on the back of the truck not the monitor
The signal isn't very strong, from the antenna to the monitor, so I dunno what the max working distance would be.

Stewart,
What kind of connector (if any) is between the transmitter and the camera?
I found some cameras that use a custom wire of RCA and a 12v barrel power connector on one end, then a regular 4 pin phone cable on the other end. I'm thinking of just adding a regular phone extension cable, mounting the camera on our trailers, then putting a regular phone extension plug right at the rear where the trailer umbilical hooks up.
This would only work if the wires out of the transmitter are removable or has a disconnect.
