1986/Ranger/2.3/4Cyl.

Can anyone tell me what the bottom 1156 bulb is for in the bottom rear lens?

I've been looking all over for my original owners manual or my chiltons repair manual to see what exactly this bulb is for. First I noticed my right turn signal both front and banck was not blinking.
I removed the right (single) front bulb and it looked fine. I removed the right side lens that contains two bulbs..the top is 1157 for stop, brake,turn, and driving lights, it's a bayonet,double base.

The second BOTTOM #1156 bulb it's a single base.

I turned on the lights, tried my turn signal,didn't work, then replaced the top 1157, on the right side,then that worked. Then i took the bottom bulb from the left side rear lens and inserted into the right side, turned on my driving light,headlights,right turn signal,but nothing at all.

So either that bulb that I thought was good, went bad like the other bottom bulb,and there is something else wrong.

it should be your back up light. it is on my 86 ranger.

Back up light..ummmm, never thought of that. I'll put it in reverse and jump out at the same time to see if it's on or not. Nah, just kiddin'. Thanks!
