Oil Comsuption?
Hey Jeff, Remember our "little" oil comsumption problem? Mine with the 1990 and yours with your 89. Well, I've got some good news and bad news. I solved my problem!!!!(good news)
I replaced the engine (bad news). Does your oil turn dark after about a week after you change it? Mine did. Although I got GREAT gas mileage. (9.5) Which you know for a 460 that is not bad, and this was driving around town. I took my truck on a little trip 400 miles and it took 8 qts of oil. (I think that is a little excessive). I found that even with the great gas mileage I had blow by (which turned the oil black). Even when we took out the plugs all of them were burning fine and a light gray in color. After we removed the engine I checked the inside walls and found the quite worn.
Anyway, I now have 50 miles on the new engine and am excited about getting it in front of my travel trailer to check it out. If I still use lose oil, I guess I just wasted 2500 dollars for nothing.
