I have a good friend/client that has finally decided to keep his 350 and 'help' it out a little bit. He has a 99 350 SRW with the 7.3 and manual tranny and he's decided to do the intake/exhaust/chip combo to improve her performance and mileage. He's no a horsepower junkie so this won't turn into a 700 hp truck but I want to make sure he gets the best for his money, he's looking at MBRP, Airaid, and some new all-in-one chip from Edge. I know MBRP is good stuff but how about the other two? I used AFE for the intake but I know it's pretty high cost if you can't find a good deal on it and I prefer a stand alone chip with seperate gauges but I think he wants the simpler all in one piece. Is there a better direction to point him on either one of those? The truck will be his daily driver and only rarely pull a small/average size horse trailer to the N. Carolina mountains. Thanks ahead for your help.
P.S. This truck has less than 100,000 miles and is bone stock.
I like the guys at airaid, they have several levels of kits last time I looked. They had a $200 kit which was a steel elbow, a cone filter and a piece that fits ontop of the stock air box. Then I believe they had some kits that had more tubing and a new air box. They aren't a bad deal either way.
Edge isn't a bad product either. The evolution was a pretty slick product if you wanted limited tuning capability. Edge used to offer "Hot tunes" online if you want more power than the unit came with, so there is some small option for custom tuning but it's not as handy as many others.
