What is this called?

Hey guys,

Hope you can help. A part I would call a steering link, (it is attached to the Pitman arm on one end and the steering arm on the other.) needs to be replaced.

I am having issue identifying the proper name for the part and then finding a place that has one of these. The knuckle connecting the steering arm to this steering link has lots of play and needs to be replaced. The steering link is about 17" long.

I do have pics but cannot post them here , but can email them.

Any help is appreciated.

i do believe you are referring to the drag link(if 4wd) or center link if 2wd). here is the lmc catalog it shows both 4wd and 2wd http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.aspx?Page=101 they dont have any thing for a f350 but it should be the same design as the f250 just bigger parts if any
hope this helps out.

Thanks for the info Frank. I spoke with the guys at LMC (very helpful and informative) as well as with some others and here is what I am finding the issue is;

In '65 Ford changed the steering and suspension in the F100 and F250 to the twin I beam set up but the F350 remained the same as before. or as seen on LMC catalog http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.aspx?Page=100 (the part is numbered 1) It seems to be an impossibility to find a company that carries a replacement that specifically fits the F350 and I am not sure that the F100/250 will fit properly.

Does anyone have any input as to A. whether or not these will fit or B. A company that does have the part I am looking for to fit the F350.

Thanks for you help,

Y

It should be available at your local parts store in the Moog brand.

maybe tell the guy it's for a 1964. might help save confusion. or...

use the catalouge portion of rockauto.com, then go to the local guy and ask for the part by number. or....

wait for a response from "numberdummy" he is a long time ford partsman. (this is the best option)

Thanks for that great info.

This piece looks so much like the part I need and fits the 4x4 F250's w/o power steering.

you can create a gallery...look towards the top of the page and you will see a few gray buttons...from left to right they will say home, forums, galleries, etc...click on galleries and you will get a drop down menu to add/manage/edit and so on...this is where you can post pics of your truck and whatever else on it you need help in identifying.

F100 4WD's and F250 4WD's were not available with P/S until 1973.

They may look the same, but looks can be deceiving.

1961/66 F250 4WD: There are TWO different draglinks. They are not the same, so they will not interchange.

C1TT3304AH fits 1961/66 F350's and 1961/66 F250 4WD's with the Dana-Spicer 44F-H/D (Heavy Duty) 3500 lb. front axle.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C1TT3304M .. Draglink / 14 3/8" long.

Fits: 1961/64 F100 2WD // 1961/65 F100 4WD and 1961/66 F250 4WD. Both F100/250 4WD's with the Dana-Spicer 44 (non Heavy Duty) 3,000 lb. front axle.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: I called Blue Oval and spoke with Jerry. The draglink they sell is C1TT3304M which does not fit F350's.

Hi CS65 and numberdummy,

Firstly, thanks again for your help on this.

NumberDummy, the concern I have is that when I measured the draglink it was 17" long and I worry that the 14.5 and 14 3/8 wont fit.

I have had some really weird things with this truck, including an offsert on the wheels that was way off of any other F350 fitted with the same wheels. Hopefully the Warranty plate info will help in figuring out why this truck seems to be such an odd ball.

Here is the info as it is written:

48135321-219046B 12 TT 4.88.1
F350 132 8,000
SS-4SPD

So what does all that tell us?

Y

Ok...Im mad...LOL...had ALL of the tag info and hit reply vs save as i tried editing last post...soooooooooo lets try this again...

4= 8cyl engine
81= conventional cab w/sgl rear axle, gas powered
35= series(F350)
32= wheelbase code(132 inches)
L= drive...LH drive

219046= sequential prod. number
B= GVW RANGE...6.1M to 10M
12= trim code...medium blue crush vinyl and medium blue ladder pattern woven plastic
TT= exterior paint color...

theres 2 choices...depends if truck was originally shot with enamel or lacquer...

Enamel: Lt Beige...see p6 of Pnt sec. for those with the parts books
Lacquer: Dynasty Green...p9 of same sec. Cdn color ONLY

4.88-1= rear axle gear ratio

F350= truck model
132= wheelbase in inches
8000= Max GVW in pounds
SS= 352 engine
4 spd ...just that...4 speed manual transmission...

If theres any areas I erred on, by all means correct me...I was hoping the tag would bear out the trucks axle info...
Also, look elsewhere on the truck for shorter tags...also riveted which would have the actual axle and trans part number on them...maybe inside the glovebox door or elsewhere on the door jambs.
