Overcooling problems

I gave my new 1990 F250 a tune up (oil change, air filter, spark plugs, wireset, new cap and rotor) and after all this it doesn't run with the engine temperature in the proper range. I changed the thermostat and the coolant but still the problem remains. Any suggestions?

Are you basing this off the dash guage or a mechanical guage?

OK so I had the engine running in the proper temperature range before I gave it a tune up. Once I changed the distributor cap, rotor and the wireset, the engine ran in the cool range. I put the wires in the right order. I even took a picture beforehand to insure that it was correct. I am basing it off the dash gauge. I am getting another gauge as soon as possible but I think the temperature is fine but the gauge doesn't read right. I was wondering if this would ever cause any problems to my enginge or any other issues in the future? Thanks for all your help guys.

The dash gauge sensor is seperate from the engine temp sensor and maybe you accidentally hit the wire when you were changing the plug wires. On the small V8s the dash gauge sensor is in the water passage on the drivers side front of the lower intake. These things are not terrible accurate, corrosion and dirt affects the readings, and they often show normal temp as somewhere towards the low end of the scale.
