So I get a call today from the wife saying the OD light was flashing in her 97 ford Explorer 4.0. My previous experience with this in my 99 F250 was a new tranny. At this point im concerned about the possible cost vs replacing the darn thing. I started to look around on possible issues with the explorer and tranny lights, etc. Found several common problems with the obvious and some not so obvious.
Got home tonight after work used my SCT tuner from my truck to scan the explorer for a code. Came back with a P1701. Reverse error. What would cause this? I've never heard of this error and ive worked with and around Fords forever it seems?
