I have a 1984 f250. It has a custom built(by me) 514 stroker (460 bored and stroked) An edelbrock 850 cfm thunder series carb, rpm air gap intake, huge cam, extensive head work. Pushes 600 horse power on the dyno.
Right now i have the stock manifolds with true dual 2.5" straight pipes. I've had headers for a while now just haven't had time to put them in.
What i'm thinking is put the headers on then run true dual 3" straight pipes with 4" tips exit in front of the rear tires.
I'm not worried about noise in the cab (lots and lots of sound deadening was done) i am worried about the truck being so loud that they will throw me in jail without a trial for making someones ears bleed.
So, does anyone have a setup with true dual 3" straight pipes? If so is it so loud it would attract every cop within seven hundred miles. I like loud exhaust but dont need any trouble with the law right now. Any help or opinions will be greatly appriciated. Thanks
It all depends on how you drive the truck and how cool the cops are where you live. If your smoke'n your tires at every stop light, and run'n thru the gears at 5 grand, well I'd say the probability of meeting alot of the cops would be high (not in A good way).
Its been my experance, If your cool, they'll be cool (unless you run into A "Dick" then nothing you do will make them happy)

i have notoriously bad luck with them. It seems they are all dicks around here. I've gotten two noise tickets in the truck already. I just, cant, help myself to make it louder lol
Why not put on 2 mufflers on an X pipe, or if you could fit it, even a third and have a shop custom make you a set up that channels both the headers into 3 separate pipes that run to 3 exhausts, which then runs into 4 tail pipes, 2 on either side. This idea may be crazy sounding, but it will allow the least back pressure and also make the vehicle quieter.

You could build a setup where you have a set of straight pipes and a set of mufflers and an electic cut out... Loud when you want... Quiet when you need it to be
