Hey everyone, i love to brag about my Ford 2005 F-250 powerstroke but i would love some help. My coworker just purchased a 2006 Dodge 2500 cummings diesel and we go back in forth who has a better truck. Now i have to admit his truck is nice but its no powerstroke. Any help would be great. Thanks guys
I hate to say it but as for the reliability of the Cummins they may have us beat. Dont flame me here I love my powerstroke and wouldnt trade it for anything. I too drove one before buying the 06 I have now and it was a nice engine...just the crap it was wraped in is what killed the sale. Also they are noted for auto tranny failures. If you are talking a manual then thats a different story.
I am slowly working my way through all the right mods to make my truck bullet proof...I just find myself running out of money.
You could laways tell him that its better to be stroked then ramed
Welcome aboard and dont every stop bragging about your superduty
Sarge, prior/current military? AF here. Not quite what i was looking for but maybe you can help me out. I plan on putting some upgrades into my truck. Where should i start?
No military service here. I am a firefighter and back when I started there were sgts. It was the first step after being a "black hat" to becomming an officer. Now I am a Asst. Chief and just have never changed my screen name or email.
As far as mods go it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish and you need to be honest with yourself cause some of these mods can and will void your warranty. So let me know what you are trying to do and I will try to help you out. But remeber this is only my opinion and there are lots of them regarding mods.
An engine coolant filter was my first reliability modification. It's relatively inexpensive and easy to install. Check out the Tech Folder for lots of other reliability modification info.
I also switch to synthetic oil, not a modification just a recommendation.
Remember maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.
If all else fails you can tell your friend that at least you don't ride a goat.
Just let him know some people want a decent engine..... Other people would rather have a decent truck. I would love to have a cummins but I would hate to drive a dodge!
I've heard it said allot of times...if you combined the Big 3 trucks you'd have something bullet proof. Dodge (Cummins) engine, GM/Chevy transmission (Allison) and Ford body/chassis. With that said I'd still drive my Pavement Princess to hell in back. It rides allot better than any Dodge we have at work and you don't have to replace the front end or tranny at 50k miles.
If FORD ever offered the PSD with a Cummins, Allison Trans and the existing body/diff combinations?????? I would buy two just incase they sold out....cuz they would!
