i dd'ed it with open headers for a few weeks shortly after i got it because the exhaust was shot. never again on a dd. truck had been stripped and repainted when i bought it, but all i got for interior was a box with mirrors and sunvisors in it. no carpeting or anything. lots of rattles and vibrations.

I ran open headers on my truck for a few months. I was so happy when i got my exhaust. It sounded good, but i couldn't tell because i was so used to open headers! hahaha

Unless you have a built motor open leaders sound like crap.

I think that nothing beats the sound of a built motor with some 5 inch stacks. Before I put mufflers on my wheeler, people could here me for miles(well they still can). But it was so dam loud you would get a headache.

this 408 in the f250 is probably the best sounding open header truck i've had so far. idle sounds like poop, but running and moving sounds nice. my 460's were crap at idle and the 85 sounded good at speed.

on a side note i've always thought 351m/400's sounded great with loud eshaust in general, especially with turbo tubes, the old school crimped glasspacks.

I too like the sound of a good 351M/400. The rather large valves(for stock motors) help on that. There is no way my 351W could sound like my 351M without a head change anyways.

79 F350, 466, C6, dana 70 front and rears, 4.10 gears, 38 inch swampers, and a divorced t-case. this was originally set up by Marmon Herrington. top of the bumper is 3 ft, top of hood is 5 ft, top of stacks is 7 ft.
