I have been to forums where you get flamed for Typos in your questions and they basically laugh at your questions. I have never had any issues here everyone is very helpful and friendly. IMO
I don't know about the other sections, but aside from some friendly "my engine is better than your engine" ribbing, this is just a bunch of guys who love their trucks. When I first got my truck I signed up on probably 4 or 5 forum sites. I haven't even gone outside this forum in over a year. I've learned a lot and saved a lot of $$$ from what I've learned here. I've had my truck and I have done all the work myself, largely due to to this forum. I do what I can to try and pay it forward and hope that I can provide some useful information for somebody. Most of us aren't mechanics, but we've turned a lot of wrenches.
You really think this forum is bad?? Try posting in any section other than the Newb section on Pirate4x4, where things AREN'T moderated or censored. Or, try asking a question on The Drake Mag's bulletin boards. Then you'll see how good it is here.
it seems this is not a forum for truck lovers it seems to be a forum for bashing people that want to put out info for the trucks so i will be holding any info to my self unless someone ask and to the ones that keep there negative comments to themselfs good luck with this forum
aww it will be allright stick aruond these are some really helpful folks,I have been kicked for some colorful comments sofar I have healed up ok
I agree with you Ken. I've been dinged a few times, but have also had guys and gals provide me with a wealth of information on keeping my truck in good repair etc. This forum and a couple of others here at FTE have been life savers for me. Plus I have a whole bunch of personal friends through our state (Kansas) chapter that I probably would never have met if it hadn't been for FTE.
I saved 2-3 thousand in repairs because of this site. It's not a bash oriented site at all. I would still be cussing at my door locks if it wasn't for this. That is why I try to inject some of my mechanical background experience into it.
This site is almost to friendly most the time! i have got in trouble before for just some mild friendly ribbing,, and also have had tonz of helpful info from here. maybe martha steward . com is more your style.
You should see my old snowmobile forum which wasn't regulated. I think it is kind of like talking to a stranger on the phone; you are somewhat removed from any danger being rejected, liable, or attacked, etc. When a girl wrote in to the forum; why do you guys act like little kids when I just wanted to be part of this and learn a few things ?......that was the end of that forum for me.
It was when I got my first sled about 15 years ago. Now I am on the DOO-talk forum and it has been great. That one years ago was talking about sex, violence, constant sled bashing, threats and you name it.
