I'm just curious if there's any place that offers a block heater retro kit for my truck? I haven't had any problems with it during the last 2 winters that I've owned it, but I've always liked the convenience of having a block heater. It makes those freezing cold winter starts much easier, and I'd prefer to get one installed before this years winter sets in.
im sure that you can get them off line. i do kno for a fact that NAPA carries them. i am contemplating putting one on my truck too.... they carry two different types; one that replaces the freeze plug, and the other one looks like a pipe coupler that you put on your radiator hoze......
Several folks that live in REAL cold country suggested to me that a percolating coolant heater that installs in the heater hose as being a better alternative to a block heater.
The one I got is made by, I think, a company named.......KATZ???
I put it on a timer that turns it on 2 hours before needed. Works awesome!
I'll look for a link to show you what I'm talking about.

Here is a link so you can get a visual-I don't know how the price compares with others though. http://www.warehouseautoparts.com/Sp...ine_heater.htm
