In the past I have mentioned here that I had a mysterious draining of my master cylinder. I could never put my finger on it. Just this day I was driving home from work when I was waved down by a friend/co-worker. As I was pulling up close to him I applied my brake quickly, but now like I was "locking" it up. As I was getting closer to him he noticed that my rear drivers side tire was "sliding" as the other tires were coming to a halt. I went outside just a bit ago and was looking underneath and saw where it appeared that I had a damp area on the inside of my drum. Unless something unusually weird happened I'm thinking that my wheel cylinder has failed. Anyone else have the same experience?-Thanks Tim
I've had a wheel cylinder leak before, which goobed fluid all over the shoes and drum. But I don't think that caused the wheel to lock up. In any case, if the cylinder is leaking, it should be replaced.

It is the wildest thing. sounds like an air plane landing next to me. I here a roar and wonder what is approaching me. My baby is dragging here foot-I never would have known it-never saw anything like it before. will buy the w. c. and then let you know what if anything else I find. Thank you for the reply back.
brake shoes on that side soaked in brake fluid from a leaking WC.
if they're less than 50% worn down, soak in acetone for 10 minutes and let dry in the sun. wash the drum and backing plate with acetone, none on the wheel bearing seal please.
brake fluid increases the coefficient of friction of brake friction material and also causes it to swell, much like adjusting the brake on that side tighter.
