*** Another A/C Qustion ***

Here We Go........
I have a 2005 F-150 5.4 XLT SuperCrew. The A/C performance in my opinion has been disapointing from day one. Here are my numbers . Outside Temp. 81 deg. and the duct temp reads 51.3 deg. taken with a Fluke meter. Just before I am done at work on a hot day , My co-workers and I go out start up the rides and pump the A/C . After 5-10 min. we all leave for the day , and my truck is warm at best , only untill I start driving does the system start to cool. The chevy boys just laugh and say after all these years Ford still cant get the A/C's correct I know they cant say that about the heat anyway back to topic ....I have checked the level of refrigerent with a very basic guage and it shows normal . My question is this , are these numbers correct ? the dealer has checked the system and stated its fine ??????? Please Help !!!

My understanding is AC vent outlet temps SHOULD be around 38-48 degrees F. My AC sucks too and I suspect its a blending door issue.

Put a shut off valve inline of the supply line to the heater core. You will be amazed with the results.

Many have experienced positive results by cutting the flow to the heater core. But, when you think about it, it's only a band-aid for the blend door actuator issue. By cutting off the warm water from the core, it won't matter what position the actuator motor puts the blend door in, as there is no warm air to blend.

However, whatever works, right? Putting in a valve sounds easier than trying to get to the three actuator motor screws in the dash.

I was wondering why it only seems to start to cool once I start Driving ?
I do recall some time back a detailed post on how to install the ball valve option ( any one remember ).....

I also think the blower fan is pretty weak in pushing cold air into the cabin. A larger fan should have been specd when the trucks were designed. I will say the fan in my dad's Dodge will blow a tree over.

Do you think placing a electric pusher fan in front of radiator(condencer) and wiring it to come on with the compressor would help?
I'm thinking that it would flow more air over the condencer to help with heat exchange.
Looks like we are not getting enough air when we are sitting in traffic.
Could this help?
It can't hurt.
Me not know pal.

I just did this to my 2001 F250 V10, it is stock on the later years. I used a Napa Heater Valve, part#: BK 6601867 for 3/4" hose.

I'm not sure how this would effect the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) System.

This method closes the water flow to the heater core on Max AC, and lets it stay open on all of the other settings. It lets me open the water flow to the heater core on occasion during the summer months.

I am going to try this on my 05 F150.

My AC in my 04 is not the coldest, but it does well. Almost all the ford cars and trucks I've owned had COLD ac. My 98 contour I use as a daily driver will freeze you out in a few miles in 90+F. I have measured it with at infra-red thermometer, AC on full, 92 F outside, on MAX ac, 10 minutes of run time, 35.8 F out of the center vents. I had a granada that would make frost on the vents in the car (really, no joke), The very few GM cars I have owned had mediocre AC at best.
