Ford ESP coverage for ball joints

Guys,
My '05 F350 CC V10 is at the dealer for maintenance and an alignment. They found bad upper and lower ball joints on one side and are going to replace them under the ESP, but they said Ford won't cover the other side until they fail. I was always told to replace them in pairs, as it stands to reason that the other will fail in the not too distant future and I think safety has also been thrown out there as a reason given on my other SD trucks (but those replacements were out of my pocket, so maybe that was the real reason for being told they had to be replaced in pairs.) Anybody run into this with Ford ESP or original warranty? Should I make a fuss? It doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks for your thoughts and experiences.

No need to make a fuss. They are doing one side under warranty,I don't know too many folks that will replace "all" the ball joints because of one failing. ( I wouldn't)

When the other side goes, fix it then.

Ford will not replace parts that have not failed yet.

(they're busy enough fixing the ones that have failed )

frankly im surprized ur getting ESP to pay for balljoints at all..

its considered a "wear" item like alot of parts on the truck..

i'd be happy to be getting the one side done..

They're actually covered under the Premium Care ESP:

They're listed under suspension. Good thing too because mine are going to need replacement soon.

Exactly. When I ordered this truck new, I was already aware of some of the reported problems. To me, even though the warranty wasn't cheap, in a way it was cheap insurance compared to the price of a lot of the components on the truck.

Hmmmmm

I would be interested to know, at the end of your warranty, if the cost of the covered repairs was equal to or more than what you paid for the warranty. In most cases the cost of the warranty is more than the cost of the covered repairs. That is why they sell them.

Maybe, maybe not but a gamble I wasn't willing to take. Head gaskets, heads, turbo, you name it. Too many things to go wrong that are way costly and too many things that are more than the price of the warranty.
