I bought this sct x-cal2 used with custom tunes that I downloaded on my truck and erased my pcm and couldn't return back to stock. Luckily I had a spare pcm, only now it's showing locked. SCT will unlock for a fee and Innovative will send new tunes for a fee. My question is would you invest anymore money in this thing or save up and go new. How much is new with custom tunes? If I go new is this old programmer worth anything? Rodney....... Be back this afternoon.
You should be able to unlock it yourself up to 5 times. If you can't find the software for the xCal 2, I'll try to see if I have a copy of it around and I'll try to email it to you. I don't think they have the old software anymore on their website(SCT), but like I said, I'll try to find the old software for you.
No matter what you should go with new tunes written specifically for your truck rather or not you keep the device or not.
Not familiar with the X-cal2, but my X3 they can do a "remote" thing where your computer connects to theres and they take over your computer and load the stuff you need onto your computer, and they do this all while on the phone with you. Doesnt cost a thing. Innovative tunes IIRC are like $75 each.

You do it yourself on the xCal 2.
To the OP: I did manage to find the software if you want me to send it to you if you don't have it. Typically buying used means it's iffy if you got the software CD.

Sorry I 've been gone most of the day, if what you're saying is I can unlock it myself I would appreciate it a bunch. SCT told me I would have to send it back in to have it unlocked. It shows I have 4 unlocks left. Thanks again Rodney.....

You can unlock it yourself up to 5 times, after that you have to send it off to SCT to unlock it and if I were to guess to re-set the counter to were you have 5 unlocks left again.

I explained to them how it was stat=stock and couldn't return back to stock and how I changed pcm to get truck started and now it shows stat=aftermarket and it has to go back in to get unlocked. So what do I do with this thing. Thanks...
My 'old' Xcal2 and it's software is still working SUPER !
1st off, where did you get it from - did you try to contact them ?
They should make it good... Sometimes a bargain is not a bargain
You got sold the proverbial 'pig in a poke' and lucky you know enough to get around it...
if sct's defense, they have all kinds of request to reset 'borrowed' xcal's - I remember on their forums seeing posts to say "My Xcal was stolen - serial # blah blah " which I thought would have been cool for sct not to reset thoe reported stolen...
(all the more reason to register and save serial #'s , etc...)
go to www.sctflash.com and the unlock info should be there, if not, I can get mine out this afternoon and post instructions....
but if I recall correctly, it's pretty straight forward to connect to pc and follow the prompts to unlock once you have the software...

I went on SCT's website and it says if programmer shows stat=aftermarket it has to go back in to be unlocked. are you saying I can unlock it? As for as where I bought it it was on the other powerstroke forum in the classiofieds.
