1996 7.3L F-350 SRW Crew Cab Longbox auto XLT 2X4.
It is a one owner truck, EXTREMELY well maintained, the paint looks brand new, interior is great. The guy took very good care of it. It has new tires, fifth wheel hitch, auxiliary fuel tank/toolbox.It has a aftermarket counsel inside. It has a new tranny (10K miles) The tranny was just in for a check before it was put up for sale, it was good. The motor is stock, hasn't been touched. stock exhaust. it has 250K miles is what worries me. What should i look for on this truck to fail?
I have a 2000 7.3, so i'm not afraid of the miles if its took care of, so it doesn't really bother me. The only thing i don't like is it is 2X4, but i'm seriously considering it anyways.
This only happens when the weather is cold (colder then freezing) If the truck is not plugged it it will leak (not sure what, cannot recall what owner said) Not much, but just when the truck is started for the first time of the day. It stops when oil is warmed up (not so thick) This does not happen when truck is plugged in. I believe he said he had it in to have this fixed and they changed a seal, but it did not fix it. Is this major? I believe it leaks VERY little.
I wouldn't worry about the miles on the motor. If you can pull off the intake tube and check for place in the turbo wheel and any chipping or excess oil on it.
Only things you might have some issues with is injectors if they are original, maybe the HPOP. And usual stuff like the CPS going out.
Sounds like a nice truck though! But if the 2wd part isn't what you want I'd just hold out for a 4x4. That's what I'm regretting right now...
