Question Heads, etc.

My truck has a 460 with a massive exhaust least leak. I'd like to replace the heads & exh manifolds. Any help?

Most all 460's have the exhaust leak problem. Just replace the gaskets if the manifold is not cracked.

The only problem you will run into replacing this stuff is rusted and broken bolts.

The problem I think is gonna be doing just that without breaking the studs. I don't really know any history of the truck I just got it about a year and a half ago.

Start soaking the hardware with lubricant way ahead of time, could make the difference between a lot of squeaking and a broken bolt.

You can soak em' all you want. You are going to break some studs, it's inevitable.

Just man up and git er' done.

I've never broken a stud(knock on wood)...just had the dam nuts round off.

Plan for the worst and be happy when it doesn't happen.

That's my philosophy.

Use 6 point sockets and the fire wrench to loosen stuff up first.
