Just curious if anyone has used a toolbox in conjuction with a hard cover like undercover's box buddy? I really want the toolbox and to keep stuff dry in the bed too. I guess my main question is how well is it weather sealed? I've not had a toolbox before, but doesnt seem to me like it would be very weatherproof.
I was just wondering the same thing, but for a soft, roll-up cover...I currently have a weatherguard fullsize box with the short-bed. It would certainly help for road trips but not take away from hauling bulk materials.
I've never had a problem with toolboxes leaking. After a big snowstorm with real strong winds I had maybe a handfull of snow that had blown in but that was it. If you put a bed cover over the toolbox you'll be fine.
Another option is to get an Undercover with one or two Swingcases. The Swingcases don't hold as much as a regular toolbox, but maybe you don't need that much room?
Thanks for the suggestions. Nothing set in stone yet but what I want is a toolbox that opens from the sides, and the 3-step nerf bars that have the step infront of the back tire. Plus the bed cover to go from the back of the toolbox over the rest of the bed. I know undercover makes one of this application, not sure about others though. Yeah I have thought about the swing cases, they are pretty slick but the price per storage area is much higher. I might even want to add those on later in addition to a tool box as well.
I guess I was just mostly concerned if a toolbox would let much rain in around the sides, and how good the seal was between the box and the bed cover. Was hoping someone out there had this combo.
