Well, I did it.
Well, this weekend.....I changed oil in my truck with the newly rebuilt 351W. So far it's had nothing but Castrol in it for break in. Then the last change I was a quart short on the fill up so I put in a quart of Shell. This weekend I did the complete change with Shell. Man, talk about having second thoughts. I mean this truck is my baby!!! Funny how your mind works huh? Thought nothing at all of putting it in the wife's car or my daughter's car, but this is my truck we're talkin about here.
Anyway, I can't tell any difference other than Shell smells funny coming out of the bottle. Has a real strong smell....like 90w.
I know this post is of no informational value. I shared it with y'all just so you can see that even when confronted with overwhelming documented proof, old habits are still hard to break. Just goes to show that sometimes the only value in that high dollar stuff is peace of mind. After I've put a few miles on the new engine with Shell, I won't think twice about it next time. Brian, just do me one favor. Don't go testing some snake oil and find out it's ok too. I don't think my heart could stand it. lol
