M5R2 Shifters

M5R2 Shifters
Well I have done some research and have come up with a few different answers. My 1989 Ford F-150 Has a M5R2 5 speed transmission. I want an aftermarket shifter for it. I went to the dealership and they told me 3 different transmisions came in that year of that truck. I also called the summit tech line. They told me that they do not carry a shifter for that transmission. They have one for the M50D made by Hurst but they said it will not fit. I did some searching on this websight and someone on here said the M50D is a class of transmissions including the M5R2 but I was told otherwise. Can someone clear this up for me. Thanks

the tranny you have is a M5R2
the mazda M5OD trannys came in:
R1 (light duty)
1988-present Ford Ranger, 1988-1990 Ford Bronco II, 1988-1995 Ford Aerostar, 1991-2000 Ford Explorer
R1HD
1997-2002 Ford Explorer (4.0 L SOHC V-6 engine), 2001-present Ford Ranger (4.0 L SOHC V6 engine)
R2 (medium duty)
1988-1996 f150 and bronco 4.9L (300) and 5.0L (302), 1997-present Ford F-150 4.2 L V-6 & 4.6 L V-8 engine, 1989-1990 Mercury Cougar XR-7 (3.8 L OHV V6 Supercharged engine), 2006-present Ford Ranger/Mazda BT-50 (2.5/3.0 L inline-4 Commonrail turbocharged Diesel engine), 2007-present Ford Everest (2.5/3.0 L inline-4 Commonrail turbocharged Diesel engine)
so you have a M5OD but more technically a M5R2...i dont think the shifters are the same between the r1(HD) and the r2
