The correct terminiology is Flareside. But, I know what ya meant, and don't think ist too important to get hung up on terminiology. The importatnt thing is to enjoy the hobby.
I know they are almost non-exsistant around here in nova scotia,I am keeping my eyes peeled for one,if I can get my hands on one that in good shape I will be cutting my frame and putting one on.
After 1956, Flareside sales began to slip. After 1973, very few were sold compared to Stylesides.
After 1956, most Flaresides were stripper fleet vehicles, sold to major construction, telephone and etc companies, the airlines, the RR's and the US Gov't.
Dealers hated taking Flaresides in trade because they were tough to sell. Most used truck customers wanted long bed Stylesides.
btw: Do not compare trucks sold "back then" vs what is sold today. 1991 was the first year more trucks were sold to private individuals than to fleets.
