Yes my 2001 truck will not crank unless plugged in over night even though the weather is 82 outside. So far i have replaced the starter and put 2 new batteries in it. Checked the hpop resovoir and it is ok. I don't think it would be glow plugs or relay so haven't checked them, yet. Any suggestions before i plug it up and drive it down to the mechanic?
It won't crank or it won't start unless it's plugged in? Clarify which one. If it won't start
then maybe gpr.(I'm sure others will respond). Maybe check all your ground connections.
Maybe someone else knows for sure, but at that temp. you shouldn't even need glow plugs. I'm wondering what sensor could be giving a false signal to the computer, sorry
I can't get tech. here. I would start with the glow plug relay and check all grounds first.
After the first start of the day how does it start? Does it fire right over or does it crank for a bit the start? Any smoke out of the tail pipe during the cranking? If so what color?
Check you GPR to make sure it is powered. Even in the warmer weather it will come on for a short period of time to aid in starting. Try jumping out the two large posts on it for 30 seconds and then try to start the truck.
Try jumping the 2 large posts on the GPR and see if starts. Do this 1st thing before you attempt to start it. If it starts up ok then it is a GPR issue and we will show you how to test that system out. Pretty easy to do.
After reading this thread about two hours ago my lovely wife asked me to go get a watermelon. What does this have to do with this thread you ask? It is a balmy 106 degrees here in southwest Idaho and with this thread at the forefront of my brain, I had my eyes glued to my GPR led light when I turned the key on. Not only did the light come on it stayed on after the engine started for about 45 seconds. Not unusual in the morning, but it's freaking 106 degrees. So do like Jim said, check your GPR before you try anything else.
Gpr was good. had 2 bad glow plugs one one each side so i replaced all of them while i had the covers off. It still won't start unless i plug it in. So i have eliminated batteries, starter, gpr, and glowplugs. What should my next step be?
just food for thought but if its warm outside and you are haveing to heat your oil, maybe you are looking at an oil issue. How long has it been since your last oil change and what kind are you using?

The glow plugs aren't just used to start the engine when cold, but also to reduce smoke after start-up, just like the IAH does. Just because the glow plugs were on doesn't mean that they were needed to start the engine. Even a completely hot engine will have the glow plugs activated for some amount of time by the PCM.
As a matter of fact, many people drive around with completely inop glow plug systems and don't even know it. I worked as a diesel tech at a dealership for about 15 years. Each year in the fall after the first really cold night, it wasn't unusual to have a half dozen or so diesels towed in all complaining that the truck wouldn't start in the morning. Jumping the defective GPR would get most of them going, but others required most or all of the GPs to be replaced. The point is, these people had likely been driving most of the summer without working glow plugs, but they never noticed.
At this point, I'm not even sure what problem the OP is having. If the OP would accurately describe the symptoms he is experiencing, we would be able to get him going relatively quickly.
