Update on boost leak......

OK guys,I found my boost leak/boost problem. It seems the plenum(I think thats what it is),the part that the turbo connects to at the front, has a crack where the v-clamp connects the two together. The crack goes most of the way around the connection(geez whats it called)...lol....anyway,I might've cracked it somehow when I did the install of the ATS housing about a year and a half ago.Tonight I went in to remove the WW and replace the stock wheel when I discovered the crack. Now,does anyone know how much a replacement will cost(new or used),Im going to check with a junkyard tomorrow AM that I know has a 7.3.

The intercooler spider or Y-Pipe is the the silver part in the middle that the pipes connect too. The plenums are connected to the spider underneath by orange boots. Hope that helps.

How the hell did you crack that aluminum spider?? Worst case if you don't find one, grind a vee shape into the crack to open it up, and fix it with JB weld. That'll work, but a replacement would be better.

Update....

OK guys,I removed the spider and discovered the crack goes all the way around. All I can figure is about a year and a half ago, when we done the ATS housing and uppipes,I remember we had a time getting the uppipes lined up right so maybe I hit it pryed wrong leaned my knee on it or something to crack this thing. I called Piedmont Ford(big truck and dumptruck shop locally) and he can get one for $128.00,does this sound about right,or do you guys think he looked up the wrong part?

Check with Ed at Y2K Ford and see what he says but that sounds like a typical price. No junk yards around close to check??

I believe Ford might just call that the intake manifold. How in the world did that get cracked aside from dropping it on a concrete floor?

There you go, and probably for half of the $128.00 for a new one.

Hey guys,I ordered a new intake spider, while installing it this afternoon,I discovered that my bro-in-laws friend had (before while doing other work)put the v-clamp from the 3.5 in. downpipe on the turbo to intake spider, thats what caused the intake spider to crack and break like it did. NOW,I went to the local stealership AND the big truck parts house I get most of my parts from(Piedmont Truck Center)and the v-clamp he pulled was the excact same clamp as the one that broke the intake spider,as you can see in the attached picture(I hope it turned out right)the flange on the side of the clamp will not fit into the groove of the spider. Can anyone get me the CORRECT part number for this clamp. Thank you for reading this long long post....

Heres a link to an old post. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-to-turbo.html
Ron had some extra clamps. He should have the number. They came in bags of 4.

At least you figured it out.
.
I face stuff like that all the time at work.
Some engineer thinks he/she can do a better job than the original and the replacement part won't fit correctly.
It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, it ties up a stall while you wait for the correct part to arrive.
