transfer case adapter cracks
i've got an 85 3speed with overdrive in my 88f150 that i converted to 4wd in the early summer. the adapter to the transfer case had some cracks in the gussets runnig along the adapter. i had these welded and they seem to be holdig well, but i am concerned about this problem reappearing. it seems as if the weight of the case is causing the case to "twist", leading to these cracks.
has anyone seen this, and do you have any ideas how to support the case to prevent the problem.
i had the welder put some bracing along the adapter, but there is a lot of weight hanging in the air back there.
